William Bain is Head of Fintech & Financial Services at Inline Policy. William brings great experience in policy making and analysis, and financial services, developed through prior careers in law and elected politics.
He was senior lecturer in Public and European Law at London South Bank University between 2004-9, having also taught at the University of Strathclyde, where he obtained his LLB (Hons) degree and an LL. M by Research in Constitutional Law.
He served as Member of Parliament for Glasgow North East between 2009 and 2015, with particular interests in economic, industrial, foreign and financial services policies. He was appointed Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Minister of State at the Department for Transport in 2010, and then served, successively, as Shadow Minister for Transport; Food, Farming and Fisheries; and Scotland. He joined the Business, Innovation and Skills Select Committee in late 2013, where he strengthened his analysis of financial services and the emerging Fintech sector. William is a skilled analyst, communicator, and influencer with expertise in the legislative and policy processes in Westminster, Brussels and the devolved administrations.
In his spare time he enjoys tennis, books, film and theatre.
